At the Opening Plenary and Closing Plenary, Miki Sawada, pianist and founder of Gather Hear, will offer musical performances.
You are invited to bring your notecard to those sessions, listen & reflect, and join this ongoing national project.
“When I listen deeply, I…”
“I want to live in a country where…”
Unlike traditional classical concerts, audience participation is a central component of Gather Hear concerts.
Each concert is an opportunity to connect personally with all who gather to listen,
and to better understand America & the people who call this place home.
To that end, in the 2024-25 concert season, we have been asking every audience member to ponder these two prompts while they listen.
More than one thousand notecards have been collected and shared in locations ranging from rural Maine, rural Alabama, a homeless shelter and juvenile detention center in Portland, and a prison in Massachusetts.
Across socioeconomic and political divides, the notecards reveal what we might have in common as humans.
